Freebird
fast and easy to use birdcall analysis
Freebird software was created to allow rapid identification, markup and reporting for audio soundfiles of birdcalls.
Typically soundfiles could be several minutes to days in length. A spectrogram approach allows visual
identification of birdcalls and other sounds, but the key thing about Freebird analysis software is that birdcalls can
be marked, re-listed to and tagged very quickly, allowing the operator to quickly process several hours of
recordings easily. Additionally, tools have been built in to manage several recordings as a session (e.g. a
particular study or location) and sessions can be grouped under the top level of the hierarchy which is a
workspace. The program is also designed so that the analysis can be stopped and restarted later, to
accommodate the fact the operators are busy people, and are often called away.
